Iran and Uzbekistan Hold First Meeting of Joint Investment Committee
The inaugural meeting of the Joint Investment Committee between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Uzbekistan was held virtually, hosted by the Investment and Economic and Technical Assistance Organization of Iran.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Uzbekistan Direct Investment Fund (UzDIF), the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Tehran, the Iranian Foreign Investment Company (IFIC), and the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, various economic areas were discussed, including the framework for economic cooperation between Iran and Uzbekistan, the establishment of mechanisms for bilateral investment, the introduction of investment opportunities, the determination of priorities for cooperation in the field of investment between the two countries, and the organization of specialized events and meetings on investment topics. Additionally, the meeting aimed to introduce private sector stakeholders from both countries.

The latest developments in the establishment of a Joint Investment Fund were also addressed, with a proposal to create a joint fund to finance collaborative projects between the two nations.

The final document establishing this fund is set to be signed on the sidelines of the Iran-Uzbekistan Joint Economic Commission in March.
